2026 NEWCOMERS WELCOME EVENT

Join us for a welcoming morning designed especially for newcomers! Connect with others who are new to the community, meet representatives from local organizations, discover programs and resources, and learn from newcomers and community professionals.

Whether you arrived in BC this year or have been here for a while and are still finding your way, this event is for you!

Enjoy refreshments, meaningful conversations, and engaging activities for kids. And don’t forget your bathing suit—the pool opens at 12:30 p.m. for anyone who would like to end the event with a swim!

10:00–10:45 a.m. | Welcome, Mingling & Community Fair
Enjoy light refreshments and connect with other newcomers in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Explore the Community Fair, meet representatives from local organizations, and discover programs, services, and resources available to you.

10:45–11:00 a.m. | Welcome
Join us for a brief welcome as we come together and kick off the morning.

11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | Newcomer Round Tables
Choose from a variety of small-group conversations led by newcomers and community professionals. Each table will focus on a different aspect of settling into life in BC—offering practical information, personal experiences, and an opportunity to ask questions and learn from one another.

12:00–1:00 p.m. | Community Fair Reopens
Continue exploring community programs, resources, and opportunities to connect and get involved.

12:30 p.m. | Pool Opens
Bring your bathing suit and join us for a swim!

Any behaviour that, in the opinion of, and at sole discretion of, the hosts, is undesirable, unsafe, disruptive, disrespectful, or otherwise unwelcome, will result in denial of access to, or, termination of your access to this event; your immediate removal by security and law enforcement, and, prosecution under the BC Trespass Act and Criminal Code of Canada. Further, you agree to comply with requests from the hosts, security, and law enforcement, to cooperate with them in such things as physical and visual inspections of your bags and person, satisfactorily proving your identity to our satisfaction, temporarily relinquishing control of personal items in your possession deemed by organizers to be inappropriate for inside this venue, etc., etc.
We also reserve the right to seek a remedy in civil court for losses or damages caused by your behaviour.
